Digital Connectors

The Digital Connectors program promotes digital literacy, youth leadership and community service for at-risk youth ages 14-19, recruited from Eden Housing affordable housing communities in Northern California. Since 2004, over 700 at-risk youth have graduated from this successful program that provides hands-on-training and experiences including:

  • Field trips to technology companies, museums and colleges
  • Training classes in hardware, software, video, systems, internet
  • Multi-media public presentations
  • Digital media projects / production of short educational videos
  • Community service projects with local residents
  • Green technology and conservation training

Digital Connectors are able to shadow IT professionals on the job, serve as mentors for younger children, solve home computer problems and teach computer skills to their senior neighbors. Overall, this program helps youth gain valuable skills and experience—paving the way for high school completion, further education and employment.
