The Howard T. Collins Memorial Scholarship Program
This Scholarship Fund commemorates Howard T. Collins, a longtime Eden board member who was especially interested in education. It was started in 1993 by Eden’s board of directors to recognize the potential of Eden residents who are striving to improve their lives.
Each year, Eden Housing awards 15 to 35 residents with monetary assistance to meet their academic and career goals. To date, we have awarded 250 scholarships totaling $275,000 to residents attending Columbia University, Drexel University College of Medicine, University of California at Berkeley and Los Angeles, California State University and local community colleges and vocational schools among others.
The criteria used to select awardees include academic achievement, need, community service and scholastic and personal references.
