Eden Housing Resident Services after school and summer programs provide a structured learning environment for youth ages 5 to 17. Participants receive both individual support and the opportunity to engage in group activities with their peers. We focus on providing youth with academic support, enrichment, positive recreational and social activities that enhance school performance, communication skills, problem-solving, leadership development, self-esteem and autonomy.
Year-round and on-site summer program activities include environmental educational projects, writing classes, art projects, creative story telling, cooking classes, field trips and water play. Technology is taught in communities with an on-site computer lab. Community service is also an important program component.
Youth in Eden Housing communities come from very diverse cultures, and therefore many of the activities are designed to increase cross-cultural understanding and to address multicultural issues.
Eden Housing strives to offer affordable childcare centers, where feasible, in our family communities. We work in partnership with nonprofit childcare providers to offer subsidized and affordable childcare options for our residents and the community at large. Currently there are childcare centers operating within our Glen Berry, Eden Palms, Ohlone Chynoweth Commons and Owl's Landing housing sites.
