FINANCIAL EDUCATION

Are you a professional financial planner or do you have experience with financial education? Work one-on-one to empower our residents with the financial tools they need to manage a tight budget, reduce their debt, and improve their credit scores.

Prefer working with groups? Teach an in-depth class series on credit, debt reduction, and savings that puts families on a path to financial stability or helps our senior residents be aware of fraud and scams.

 

Duties:

Coach: greet residents who sign up and attend individual sessions, review their paperwork and help them identify their financial goals.  Answer their questions.  Give resources and information to help them continue their financial education.

Class: create curriculum and activities for each class.  Greet attendees and make them feel welcome.  Help residents to increase their knowledge of debt, income, savings and credit, as well as give them tips and things to avoid.

Skills needed:

· Expert level knowledge of finance, experience with financial education

· Previous experience teaching or coaching low-income clients

· Ability to explain the subject matter in plain and simple terms with a patient and friendly attitude

· Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a positive personality and demeanor

Benefit:

Volunteer will gain additional experience working with low-income and underserved populations. Build relationships with residents and get to know them.  Give back to the community by sharing your skill and expertise with others.

Time commitment:

Volunteers must commit to either once a week for one month, or once a month for four months.  Volunteers will provide a minimum of for coaching or classroom sessions on a regular schedule.
